What to do now

Stay safe around electrics, note what you see, then request a visit.

1. Keep clear of sparking fittings, burning smells or water near electrics.
2. Switch off at the main switch only if it is safe.
3. Do not keep resetting a safety switch or breaker that trips immediately.
4. Note which rooms are affected and photograph the switchboard if safe.
5. Send the request form.
6. Contact your insurer or landlord if appropriate.
